Starting Monday, November 2, 2020, Buckland Bridge, located at NW-3-49-27-W2, will be closed to all traffic. Alternate routes will be McLeod Road and Greig Road.
The already aged bridge would have been scheduled for replacement in the next couple of years. Now, due to the North Saskatchewan River’s ice damming this spring, the water backed up over the rails, causing sizeable ice chunks to collide into the bridge, compromising the structure further.
Due to the bridge’s questionable condition and in the interest of public safety, Council has decided to close it to all traffic until the road lift and bridge replacement are complete.
We aim to have this project completed and open by the end of the next construction season.
